  1. 1

    Install from the Play Store

Search XCIPTV Player by NathNetwork. On a Firestick, sideload the APK from the OTTRUN site with Downloader instead.

  2. 2

    Log in with Xtream Codes

Pick the Xtream Codes option on first launch and paste the server URL, username and password from your activation email.

    http://your-server-url:port
  3. 3

Set the parental code before you browse

Settings → Parental. XCIPTV has no default PIN, so adult categories stay visible until you set one. Do it now rather than after someone else has picked up the remote.

  4. 4

Pick a decoder and test one busy channel

Settings → Player. Start on ExoPlayer. If a channel stutters or plays with no sound, switch that stream to VLC and try again before assuming the feed is at fault.

  5. 5

    Export your settings

Once everything works, use the backup option to write the configuration to storage. Restoring after an update is far faster than rebuilding it.

Frequently asked questions

Is XCIPTV on the Play Store, and which listing is the real one?

Yes — the NathNetwork listing.

The genuine app is published by NathNetwork and also linked from the OTTRUN site. Several clones use near-identical names and icons; check the developer name on the store page before installing. On Firestick, where Amazon does not carry it, take the APK from OTTRUN directly rather than from an APK aggregator.

Does XCIPTV support catch-up?

Yes, once you enable it in settings.

Catch-up is off by default in some builds. Turn it on under Settings → General, then look for the archive marker in the guide. Only channels that carry an archive will show it — the setting exposes the feature, it does not create availability where the channel does not offer it.

ExoPlayer or VLC — which decoder should I use?

ExoPlayer by default, VLC when a specific stream misbehaves.

Start on ExoPlayer: it is lighter and uses your device’s hardware acceleration, so it runs cooler and drops fewer frames. Switch a problem stream to VLC when you get audio with no picture, an unusual audio track that will not decode, or persistent stutter that survives a network check. There is no reason to move everything to VLC — do it per stream.

How do I back up and restore my settings?

Export to a file, keep it off the device.

The settings menu includes a backup option that writes your configuration to local storage. Copy that file to a USB stick or a cloud drive — a backup that only exists on the device you are about to reset is not a backup. Restoring is the same menu in reverse and takes seconds, which matters because XCIPTV updates have a track record of resetting preferences.

The picture freezes on one channel only. Why?

Try a different decoder before blaming the connection.

When a single channel misbehaves while everything else is fine, the network is rarely the cause. Switch that stream to VLC and retry. If it now plays, the issue was decoder compatibility with that particular feed. If it freezes on every decoder while other channels are clean, tell us which channel and we will check the source — that is a genuine feed problem and not something you can fix from the app.

How do I lock the adult categories?

Settings, Parental — and note there is no default code.

Open Settings → Parental and set a code, then mark the adult categories as protected. XCIPTV ships with no default PIN, so until you complete this the adult section is visible to anyone using the app. If you share the device with a household, do this as part of setup rather than as a later tidy-up.

The guide is missing or wrong. How do I fix it?

Force a refresh, then check the timezone offset.

With an Xtream Codes login the guide arrives automatically. If it is empty, force a refresh from settings and let the first download complete — it is large. If the guide is populated but everything sits an hour or two off, that is a timezone offset, not missing data: set it to your local time and the entries snap into place.

What connection speed does XCIPTV need?

Same as any player: about 10 Mbps HD, 25 Mbps 4K.

The player does not change the bandwidth the stream requires — budget roughly 10 Mbps per HD stream and 25 Mbps per 4K stream. What XCIPTV can change is how gracefully it copes with a wobbly line: VLC tends to ride out brief dips better than ExoPlayer, so on a connection you know is inconsistent it is worth trying.

The player you keep for awkward streams

Most members will do fine on IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate. XCIPTV earns its place on this site for a narrower reason: it lets you change the decoder per stream. A channel that stutters on ExoPlayer and plays perfectly on VLC is a common pattern, and XCIPTV is the app that lets you prove it in ten seconds instead of reinstalling everything.

Decoder, in plain terms

A decoder turns the incoming stream into pictures. ExoPlayer is Google’s, it is efficient and it leans on your device’s hardware. VLC handles unusual audio tracks and odd container formats that ExoPlayer refuses. The native option is the fallback for very old hardware. Nothing about your subscription changes when you switch — you are changing how your device reads the same feed.

Where the settings live

XCIPTV buries more than most players. The decoder choice sits under Settings → Player, catch-up under Settings → General, and parental control under Settings → Parental. Take two minutes to walk the whole settings tree once; it saves a lot of hunting later.

Back up before you change anything

The app can export its configuration to a file. Do this after your first working setup. XCIPTV updates have historically reset preferences more often than its competitors, and restoring a backup takes seconds where redoing the whole configuration does not.

A note on the adult categories

XCIPTV’s parental lock hides categories behind a code you set yourself. Unlike Smarters it does not ship with a default PIN, which means that until you set one, the adult section is simply visible. Set it during setup, not later.
